I've never made my own hot cross buns before so I thought I'd give them a go. Used Nigella's recipe from Feast (amazing book). They turned out OK (I'd make them bigger- 10-12 rather than 16) and reduce the cooking time. They were lovely hot with a but of melting butter.
Taking their time: 1 1/2 hours to rise. (Apparently better overnight but who can wait that long?)
Slightly too long in the oven so a bit more like crunchy scones than soft buns. I like the orange and cinnamon flavors though.
